Galveston Bay Fishing Report 9-14-09
To all of you that read my reports on a regular basis, you know my favorite line is good weather brings good fishing! Well over the last 2 weeks that has never been more true. The rain has played a big role in our fishing trips and we have had to cancel or reschedule most trips over this period. Fishing has been good when we have been able to get out. The redfish are showing up more often and a lot of them are over sized. The shorelines and shallow water areas are starting to hold trout and reds. Live bait is still working well (croaker or shrimp) but traditionally this time of the year we switch over to soft plastics, but when you are catching fish why change. Soon the croaker bite will fade and we will be using artificials and live shrimp under a cork for the next month or so. Fishing Trinity bay chasing birds is not a big secret this time of year and we have given that a try with mixed results. It just seems like the trends and fish eating patterns are a litlle behind this year. So we will adjust to what the fish want. That is a very important key to catching fish, fish with what they are feeding on or if you are using artificial baits try to use something that looks like what they are targeting for food. We will be trying some new locations these next couple of weeks so be sure to check out the next report. Fall fishing is right around the corner and it should be a great time to fish. There will be less boat traffic on the water and with the fishing we have had this summer there is no reason why this fall shouldn’t be outstanding. For those of you that only book spring and summer trips, you should really try fishing in the fall. Some of our best trips have been in fall! Before I end this report I want to say thanks to EVERYONE that booked a trip with us this past year!!! We really appreciate it especially with our economy and we understand people are trying to watch how they spend their money. Fishing is such a great way to get away for a day and just enjoy yourself on the water with friends and family. We hope that your experience with us was a good one. My brother and I are going to start sending emails to all of our regular and repeat customers when we have specials. If you have fished with us in the past or want to be on our email list, send your email info to info@galveston-fishing.com. We will be running some discounted trips soon. Well until next time, see you on the water.
